Fabrication of Intumescent Fire-Retardant Coating for Structural Applications

Applicability of materials limited by the effect flammability in case any sudden incident. Worldwide protection structure from fire is covered through intumescent resistant coatings since many past years. Purpose this study to prepare and fabricate several retardant (IFRC) using different proportions per unit weight. Also find most optimistic formulations analyse performance (IFRC). On basis background studies 5 were considered i-e Titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ), Ammonium polyphosphate (APP), Zinc borate, Epoxy hardener, Kaolinite (Clay), Melamine (MEL) Expandable Graphite (EG). IFRC applied on Mild Steel plates after its preparation Each formulation was subjected a temperature 700°C for period five minutes. The results revealed that coatings, Out IFRC, IFRC-4 exhibited promising performance. It demonstrated excellent stability adhesion at elevated temperature, lasting over Additionally, coating expanded up four times initial thickness. Heat Transfer rate completely reduced.
